Nature's paradise: visiting southwest khasi hills


South West Khasi Hills District can be easily reached by road from Shillong and Nongstoin of Meghalaya. Sumos, Bus services are available from Anjali Bus Stand, Bara Bazaar(Iew-Duh), Shillong. From Nongstoin Bus Stand the same can be availed. The Distance from Shillong to Mawkyrwat is approximately 75km.

Wah Rilang view point

Beautiful meandering river at Mawranglang is a beautiful valley on the Nongstoin-Mawkyrwat road . It is convenient picnic and angling spot.

Hotsprings, Jakrem

15 Kms from Mawkyrwat and 60 Kms from Shillong at lawblei (Jakrem) on the Shillong-Mawkyrwat road is the Hot Sulphur Spring. During winter it is a favourite picnic spot and people throng the spring. Most of them come to take bath for it is believed that the water has medical properties.

Umngi river

18 km from Mawkyrwat is the Umngi River. It is a favorite picnic spot for the people of the area. In the middle of its course, there is a small river island. It is the longest river in mawkyrwat sub division.

Monoliths at Tynrong

Monaliths at Tynrong, Mawlangwir. India's very own Stonehenge. It is about 3.4 km from Mawkyrwat to Tynrong. A village that is surrounded by rocks and it is also surrounded by spectacular mountains as well as beautiful stones. It is the most beautiful and attractive nature full of greenery surrounding around us which make us happy and provide us natural environment to live healthy.
